Then: Robbie was one of the original members of CSA and then Midnight Sun. He played bass. He also sang backup and the boys said he had a high "falsetto" voice. He left Midnight Sun in 1972. Robbie went to college on a baseball scholarship and was eventually offered a contract by the Baltimore Orioles to play for their farm team. He declined, hoping for a better offer. He was married to Carol.

While working for Brown Distributing Company, Robbie was the victim of an armed robbery and was killed. Robbie died at age 29. He is buried in Dale Memorial Park in Richmond. Every year during the holidays boys from Midnight Sun take flowers to his grave to honor him.
